Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
a person is admitted in the hospital for chest pain, her ECG shows bigeminal PVCs of more than 6 per minute that are close to her T wave. Her potassium is 2.8 mEq/L. She is short of breath on exertion . Her blood pressure is 104/56 mmHg, pulse is 72nbeats per minute and respiration are 16 per minute. What should the nurse first
The nurse should first correct the level of Kalium in blood with infusions of soul. NACL, KCL and MgSO4. These low Kalium levels may have to do with these arrhythmias.
After correcting Kalium take another ECG to see. May be needed a 24-48 h ECG Holter monitoring to see more about these arrhythmias.
A cardiac sonography may be needed too.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Anila Skenderi,
