Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My MRI findings are as follows : IMPRESSION : Scattered small T2 intense foci are consistent with the sequela of chronic small vessel ischemic disease. I am a 52 year old women. I had a total loss of sudden vision almost 4 mths ago now, session lasted just a few minutes, 10 at the most. STILL have vision loss in left eye, comes & goes, sunlight seems to aggravate it. Some days it is worse than others. I want to know WHAT this test result means AND if possible WHY I haven t gotten my sight back. I have a long history of migraines & had a bad one hours after my vision loss. Have an app. with a Neuro Doc next week. Hoping to get answers. Can you give me a clue right now though? Thanks!
The reports suggest that chronically certain diseases like blood pressure or high cholesterol etc may cause small vessels in brain to get clogged and area they are supplying gets difficulty to get it's supply of oxygen and nutrients so area may get mild damage.
Such infarcts were present on MRI and may need long term anti platelets or blood thinning medicine to help to resolve clots and help to avoid future such incidence. Fasting lipid profile and sugar levels may also need to be monitored however with your history, possibility of Multiple sclerosis should be ruled out though classical finding of plaques are not present on MRI but may need cerebro-spinal fluid examination as well as visual evoked potentials tests too. Treatment should depend on the cause after the reports of the work up.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
