What Does The Following MRI Report Indicate?

Can you explain some of the following, including the degree of severity... from one line in my MRI Report? Thank you. C2-3 There is disk desiccation present. There is a small posterolateral disk osteophyte complex present and accompanying uncinate hypertrophy which results in partial effacement of the anterior subarachnoid space on the right and mild right foraminal narrowing.

Hello,

Your MRI report says the following:
1) C2-3 disc desiccation means the intervertebral disc that provides friction free cushion between the vertebrae is dried or lost its function
2) Posterolateral disc osteophyte complex and uncinate hypertrophy means the intervertebral space is narrowed and the nerve roots are pressed against the bone complex
3) This leads to nerve impingement and pain
4) Mild foraminal narrowing means the space through which the spinal nerve passes is narrowed this resulting in pressure effects on nerve root leading to pain and tingling and numbness along the area supplied by the nerve
5) This is cervical radiculopathy

You need to take the following treatment:
1) Pain relief medications like NSAIDs like ibuprofen and Naproxen daily twice for 14 days
2) To avoid gastric irritation tab. Pantop 40 mg can be taken before food daily once
3) NSAIDs are not advisable if you have heart disease. So then opioids can be used as alternative like Hydrocodone, Oxycodone and Tramadol
4) Neuromodulators like tab. Pregabalin can be used for 30 days for pain relief

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
