what does this mean from my recent MRI: "At C4-5, there is relatively severe right foraminal encroachment"
What are the treatments available? I have a sharp pain every time I turn my head to the right. Some pain if I don't move at all. I am swimmer, pretty active, travel on planes a lot.
I read your question and I understand your concern.
That part of the report means that the tunnel your right nerve root crosses to get out of the spine is severely narrowed causing compression of that nerve root and your symptoms. I can't say the cause since you don't write the rest of the report, usual causes is disc disease or osteophyte. Management as first line is painkillers, physiotherapy and cervical collar, local injections with steroids or anesthetics if that doesn't work and surgery as last resort. I hope things work out for the best.
