What Does The Following XRAY Report Indicate?

I am a 52 year old male with mild asthma. My pulmonary physician sent me for a routine chest x ray. The findings were "There is a slight blunting of the right posterior costophrenic angle. No consolidation or pneumothorax. Cardiac and mediastinal contours are within normal limits"

IMPRESSION: Small right-sided effusion.

My physician told me that he believes the rusults were "over read" and the results are normal with nothing to worry about.

Can you tell me what "over read" means? And should I be worried about the results of the x ray?

Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello sir,
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

As a treating physician I can tell you that the above mentioned X-ray results are almost normal and there is nothing abnormal to worry in it.
The radiologist who read the X-ray made an impression of "small pleural effusion" that means there is a collection of fluid between your lung and chest wall.It is not at all significant because you dont have any symptoms and the size of effusion is very small.
The radiologist "over read" the results means he had made a non significant finding as an important one.
As of now,you dont need to worry regarding the X-ray report.
I suggest you to take a repeat X-ray after two weeks to check whether there any increase in size of the effusion.
If you have any breathing difficulty or pain please consult your pulmonologist.

Regards.
Dr.Shinas Hussain
