Radiation Oncologist 's  Response
Hello,

Any pulmonary nodule does not imply to be cancerous, however, it does merit evaluation especially in high-risk individuals.

If I were your treating oncologist, I would like to first assess your risk status for developing lung cancer (smoking history, COPD status, family history, age) and based on these if you fall under high risk, yes I would advise a PETCT and if required a biopsy of the suspicious nodule.

Usually, PETCT scan is a good modality to detect nodules > 5mm.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Jatin Bhatia, Radiation Oncologist
