Cytology histopathology report Clinical details: swelling at back of right ear since 1 year, non-tender, firm, hard size 2x2 cms. A: scanty red material, 4 slides and 1 cell block. B: scanty red material, 4 slides and 1 cell block. Microscopic description: Aspiration performed by the pathologist nazish from bronchial right ear smears pictures show sheets of myoepithelial cells admixed with myxoid material alongwith inflammatory cells and blood. Cells block preparation show multiple fragments showing scattered cells with vague gland formation admixed with myxoid stroma Diagnosis: behind right ear: Features are suggestive of pleomorphic adenoma. Comments: histological evaluation is advised with this PC15604-16 as a reference.
It is a benign (non-cancerous) salivary gland tumor of mixed type and seems to be arising from the right parotid gland.
Consult your doctor for further evaluation and certain tests such as CT scan, MRI or an ultrasound to find out its exact size and location. Another big consideration is if the benign tumor has become cancerous.
You may be advised to undergo its surgical resection (parotidectomy) if it is benign in nature otherwise if it is found to be cancerous then surgery is sometimes followed up by radiation treatment.
Hope these answer your query. Best regards.
