What Does The Following Fecalysis Report Suggest?

Hi, My 4 year old daughter had been experiencing loose to soft bowel for a few days. This morning I noticed her bowel has black specks on it. I requested for a fecalysis and got the following result: RBC: 0-2/hpf Pus Cells: 0-2/hpf Yeast Cells: None Fat Globules: None No Intestinal Parasite Seen What do those hpf values mean? Do I need to get further tests or consultation for her? Thank you in advance.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Based on the fecalysis report you have furnished of your 4 year old daughter, the following things can be inferred.
1. RBCs with 0 - 2/HPF (High Power Field) is normal.
2. OPus cells with 0 to 2/HPF is normal.
3. There are no yeast cells and hence there is no evidence of fungal infection.
4. There are no fat globules indicating that fat digestion and absorption is proper.
5. No intestinal parasites means that there are no worm infestations.
Hence, the report can be presumed to be normal.
Kindly consult Pediatrician in this regard for further evaluation and management.
Hope the information provided helps.
All the best.
