What Does The Following Liver Biopsy Report Indicate?
Hello, I am HbsAg positive (reactive) and also I had HBV DNA PCR detected , HBe Antigen reactive , anti HBE antibodies non reactive and done needle liver biopsy which says liver appears normal in size and shows uniform echotexture . Does this means do I have to worry about the virus?
Your liver biopsy comes normal means no active lesion present in liver and it is good sign. But it doesn't indicate you are not infected with hepatitis B virus.
The carrier stage can present with normal liver and patient can live normal life in that.
You need to repeat hbsag ELISA test after six month of initial test. If after six month it is positive than carrier can be considered.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
