General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all it's sad to know what your baby had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, the cause of having the scan may be needed as if one kidney is structurally smaller than other one or has decreased functional ability, it can be either developmental anomaly or post birth complication of obstructive uropathy due to any cause lien VUR, or posterio urethral valve, etc.

So renal functions as well as if needed DTPA scan may be needed to compare between both kidneys. A urologist or nephrologist review is needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
