What Does The Following Ultrasound Report Indicate?
Hi, My mother Ultrasound report contains Coarse liver, and she is an house wife, diabetic and BP patient. She doesn t consume alchohol. But the reason why liver got coarse is not known to us. Can you kindly brief about possible reasons of it ? and preventive measures that we can take ?

Coarse liver on ultrasound might be related to conditions like fibrosis, cirrhosis or fatty liver which can occur due to different reasons. Even this can happen in people who don't consume alcohol.
The reason can be dietary habits, infection or fat accumulation but to know the exact reason behind it your doctor might ask your mother to get some other diagnostic tests which do include blood tests.
After carefully evaluating her with all history he will guide you further.
With your doctor's advise you can see a dietician as your mother is diabetic and hypertensive.
The dietician will be able to provide appropriate diet chart as sometimes improving dietary habits help a lot if it's related to diet.
But your doctor must rule out all the possible reasons and after that, he might prescribe appropriate medicines for the same.
