Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

I understand your concern and would like to explain that a heart rate level 0f 48 bpm is considered abnormally low (bradycardia).

Such a low heart rate may be due to a cardiac conductance disorder (sino-atrial or atrio-ventricular block), or may be just a sinus bradycardia.

This pattern may be due to an excessive medication effect, a metabolic, endocrine disorder; as well as due to a degenerative, or ischemic disorder.

It is necessary performing a comprehensive clinical evaluation, considering the age, potential concomitant health disorders, current medications and additional already performed cardiac tests.

In case an important cardiac conductance disorder or even a symptomatic sinus bradycardia it is recommended to implant a permanent pacemaker in order to assist the low heart rate and provide a support in your daily physical activities.

Hope to have clarify your uncertainties!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
