Hi, my brother received a letter from his last chest (PA and LATERAL)examination stating there is a fullness in the mediastinum and enlargement of the cardiac siihouette with prominence of the left ventricle. Also with a mid prominence of the central vessels. The examination is otherwise normal. What does this exactly mean and what steps should he take in order to have detailed results?
Chest findings may indicate cardiac abnormality. This need clinical correlation and further investigations. There may be left ventricular hypertrophy and prominent pulmonary arteries. Your brother may need ECHO to confirm the findings. Contrast CT scan can be done if needed. Proper treatment depend upon findings. Your brother need proper clinical evaluation by a cardiologist.
