What Does The Presence Of Fibrohazed Densities In Both Upper Lobes On My Chest PA X-ray Indicate?

Hello. May I ask for the explanation of this result. CHEST PA There are fibrohazed densities in both upper lobes. Heart is not enlarged. Diaphragm and sulci are intact. The rest of the visualized thoracic structures are unremarkable. Thank you for answering my question.

Hello,

The presence of fibrous hazed densities in both upper lobes is suggestive that there is some scarring or thickening in the top parts of your lungs. This could be from an old infection like TB or another lung disease. It is not cancer, but the cause and whether it is active or just old scars needs to be further evaluated.

Active infection will show symptoms like cough, breathlessness, fever, weight loss, etc. You are advised to get clinically examined by a local GP. Get CT scan of chest (for a clearer picture of the fibrosis and cause) done. You should also get done a sputum test if TB is suspected. Pulmonary function tests if you have breathing problems.

Fibrosis is permanent scarring, but if it is old and stable, it may not cause symptoms. But, if it’s active or progressive, it can affect lung function. You are advised to get evaluated and treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
