What Does The Presence Of Pus Cells, Serum Urea And E. Coli In A Urinalysis Report Suggest?

Hello, My 85 years old mother is diabetic. Recently her Urine sample shows 10-12 pus cells/hpf. Serum Urea 108, Creatinine 3.1. Urine CS analysis shows greater than 80000 CFU and presence of E. coli. Sensitivity test shows sensitive to Nitrofurantoin, tezobactum etc. she was having severe side effect with Martifur so doc gave him IV antibiotics Pipzo for 5 days. After 48 hours of antibiotics urine pus cells are 3-5 hpf. Serum urea is 58 and Creatinine is 3. Doc prescribed another oral antibiotics Foscomycin. Please advise

Hello,

Your mother is suffering from urinary tract infection of e coli. She may also be suffering from chronic kidney disease.

Please continue antibiotics and get it done an ultrasound of kidney for size or altered echotexture. Consult your nephrologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
