General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Painful cramps or clots can occur during the course of menstrual cycle. Extreme pain or bleeding with clots for more than 5 to 7 days is considered abnormal and may require treatment. Anti-spasmodics or anti-inflammatory drugs like Mefenamic acid or ibuprofen can provide symptomatic relief in some women.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
