What Does The Sonographic Examination Of The Pelvic Indicate?
Sonographic examination of the pelvis was performed in transverse and longitudinal planes. The uterus is normal in size and contour. The uterus measures 10.4 x 6 x 7.2 cm with an 1.8 cm endometrial echo, which is thickened. A fibroid noted within the uterus measuring 2.8 x 1.6 cm.
The ovaries are normal in size and appearance. There is bilateral doppler flow documented to the ovaries. No evidence of pelvic mass or abnormal fluid collection is noted.
IMPRESSION: Uterine fibroid. A thickened endometrial echo complex. No evidence of a discrete fluid collection noted within the endometrium. my result report. does that call for a total hysterectomy?
1.The report suggests there is a fibroid in the uterus. 2.The uterus seems to be bulky and due to presence of fibroid. 3.The endometrium thickened probably due to the distal mass effect of the fibroid or inflammatory changes. 4.Rest of the scan appears normal with no positive findings. 5.In this case, initially hormonal treatment is tried followed by hysterectomy depending on the age and clinal symptoms and findings. Good luck.
