Based on the results from a spinal tap on my 27 year old son, I would like to know if you would consider his results to be positively viral meningitis. The following are his results:

Xanthochromia - Neg, both Tube 1 and 4
Nucleated Ct. - 15 (Tube 1), 13 (Tube 4)
RBC - 60 (Tube 1), 3 (Tube 4)

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Its a hemorrhagic tap.
2. However, the lymphocytes count are still raised in the last tube and presence of this is consistent with viral meningitis.
3. Biochemistry results would be more supportive.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
