What Does The Ultrasound Report Indicate?

doc, i have conducted a KUB ultrasound which result to this: Reniform cortical parenchymal echogenicity is increased with indisticnt corticomedullary juction, more on the right. The renal sinuses are centrally oriented with no ectasia, mass lesion or calculi. Ureters are not dilated. the urinary bladder is distended smooth mucosa with no mass lesions or calculi. Impression: Consider renal parenchaymal disease, bilateral. Pyelonephritis cannot be excluded in the proper clinical setting. I don't know what it is Doc. thanks.

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Increased cortical echogenesity with indistinct corticomedullary junction indicates renal parenchymal disease.
However it should be confirmed by clinical examination and blood investigations.
You need routine hemogram,Random blood sugar,Renal function test(includes serum urea,creatinine,sodium,potassium ,calcium,phosphorus,bicarbonate),creatinine clearance,GFR,urine input-out chart,Liver function test,Urine RE/ME.Further investigation can be done if needed.

Pyelonephritis should also be ruled out.

Proper treatment depend upon findings.

Hope I have answered your question.
Take Care
