What Does The Ultrasound Scan Of My Pregnant Wife Indicate?

Hello sir/madam, My wife got conceived and during a scan in first trimister i. e., in 8th week doctors said that the heart beat has stopped before 2 days. I have a doubt that whether foetal heart beat has stopped or it didnt started. Any one can please help me for what reason it happens i mean which effects the foetal heart beat?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Sorry to hear that, however if the treating Obstetrician is unable to detect Fetal heart sounds by the Doppler, you should get USG done to confirm the viability of the foetus.

Congenital heart defects can also be confirmed by USG before childbirth so that treatment can be started earlier.

No fetal heart beat is commonly detected when genetic material in the chromosome was not right & development delays causes the heart to stop.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
