I am a 59 year old male. I was having swelling in both legs with urine infection and On a couple of days had shivering fever. The lab tests taken on may 27th had the results as Albumin (++), Pus Cells (8-10), RBC (10-12) and bacteria present. The 24 hour Urine protein showed 376 mg/day. Urine culture, the results showed that E-coli bacteria. So the doctor prescribed Mortifur 100 mg which I had been taking for 10 days. In addition I was asked to take Nephrosave. Now, there is no fever, there is no swelling in the legs. However, when I went for a follow up test today the lab results showed that Albumin(++), Pus celles ( 25) and bacteria present. All others including RBC were normal. The doctor this time has suggested that I take Nephrosave, Pinom (20mg). He suggested that more anti biotics is not necessary and that I need to continue taking these tablets and test urine again every 2 months. Since, the bacteria is still present in the urine with pus cells 25 I am worried. Since, I have been asked to stop taking anti biotics will the bacteria grow and affect kidney? Please advice.
