What Does The Urine Test Result Indicate?

HI Doc.. My Daughter is 9 years and her Urine culture is showing 1:-100,000 col / ml of Escherichia coli Isolated. The report was same even 6 months back. Similarly in Her Urine RE.. it shows following results please advice: Color Yellow Appearance Turbid Specific Gravity 1025 pH 6.0 Protein Negative Glucose Negative Ketone Negative Bilirubin Negative Hemoglobin Trace Urobilinogen 0.2 Microscopic W.B.C. 18-20 R.B.C. 1-2 Epithelial Cells 2-4 Crystals Nil Casts Nil I am very Worried. Please advice should i consult Pediatric, Nephrologist or urologist ?

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Your daughter is suffering from urinary tract infection(UTI).Cause of persistent UTI should be searched for.Cause of persistence may be due to many reasons like inadequate treatment,anatomical problem etc.
UTI is indicated by turbid appearance of urine and presence of WBC,RBC in urine.
She need few more investigations like routine hemogram,Renal function test,Urine culture and sensitivity and Ultrasound of abdomen. Further investigations can be done if needed..
At present she need proper antibiotics after culture and sensitivity report.
She also need clinical correlation.She should drink plenty of water.
She should be examined by a nephrologist.
