What Does This BP Level During Pregnancy Indicate?

I ll be 21 weeks pregnant with my second baby in 3 days. A couple days ago, at my OB, the nurse took my blood pressure and it was 136/65. I know normal is 120/80 but my normal is around 100/60 and was low like that with my first pregnancy as well. I meant to ask my OB about it but it was ultrasound day and I totally forgot to ask. So is 136/65 considered high bp for me or is it okay?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is considered slightly high but should keep monitoring your BP levels, and record the results to show to your gynecologist. Being 21 weeks pregnant is the time when we start monitoring BP and glycemia in order to detect pregnancy hypertension or gestational diabetes in time.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
