What Does This CT Scan Report Indicate?

Recently had a iv/po contrast CT to rule out lymphoma of the chest abd pelvis. Significant results included: Hepatomegaly Suggestion of several borderline enlarged lymph nodes in retroperitoneal region Rebound thymus within the superior anterior mediastinum. I m 24 with no real medical history. Just have been having constant drenching night sweats and a couple of recent incidences of unspecified leukocytosis. Are these results of concern? Still awaiting to hear from my oncologist.

Hello,

Did you have complain of pain abdomen recently? the night sweats is one if the symptoms that should not be ignored. Your CT scan says hepatomegaly which means enlarged liver which is seen in different illnesses, presence of enlarged lymph nodes occurs due to different reasons like infection, cancers.

Your oncologist knows your history regarding the symptoms and he has done your physical examination so he advised you to get the CT scan done, to make sure what is the underlying cause your doctor might suggest you to get some other diagnostic tests done, maybe biopsy of lymph node to know what kind of cells are involved. I would suggest you to follow your doctor’s advice without panicking.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
