SIR A CT SCAN OF BRAIN CONDUCTED AT 180 MAS WITH 0.5 SEC GANTRY ROTATION AND 120 KV AND TOTAL 3 SECONDS EXPOSURE FOR A 10 YEAROLD BOY ,IS IT A HIGHER DOSE?ANY RISK TO THE BOY FROM THIS SCAN.IS CT SCAN DANGEROUS FOR CHILDREN. PLEASE GIVE YOUR VALUBLE ANSWER. THANK YOU
Mentioned findings are technical things related to CT scan and generally it is not risky. It is a standard protocol.Main factors are kilo volt(KV) and milli ampere second(mAS)which determine radiation dose. I presume all precaution like trunk shielding by lead apron had been done during scan. Lead apron protects our body from hazardous radiation. Though children are more susceptible to radiation hazard but this much radiation will not cause any damage.
