Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi,good day.I had a chest ct scan and says.. Shows bilateral upper lobe fibrosis with tubular bronchiectasis. A 1.9 x 2.6 cm cavite nearly filled with non enhancing soft tissue density is seen in the apical segment of the upper right lung lobe. Minimal left lung base segemental atelectasis versus fibrosis also noted. The rest of the lungs are cleared. The central airways are patent and normal in morphology. The heart and great vessels are within normal. No enlarged lymph nodes identified. The diaphragm and bony thorax are grossly intact. Negative for pleural effusion. The included upper abdomen is unremarkable.IMPRESSION Consider bilateral upper lobe chronic PTB with segmental bronchiectasis and right upper lobe fungus ball formation. What does this mean doctor? Thank you.
As per my clinical experience, the interpretation of CT scan report is suggestive of chronic tuberculosis changes involving both sides of apex of lung parenchyma with fungus ball formation at right upper lobe which is secondary fungus infection in previously compromised unhealthy tissue.
However, any report has to be co related on clinical grounds with underlying history, symptoms and physical findings of the patient.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
