What Does This ECHO Report Indicate?

I am 61 yr old with diabetes type 2 and hypertension, a recent echogram revealed slight to mild leaking of the tricuspid valve and the mitral valve and a slight calcification of aortic valve. Rx for metoprolol ER 50MG once a day. Told not to worry about it???? Thank you for your suggestions!

HI

Greetings from Dr.Divakara.P
Thanks for posting your query.

I will explain to you in simple terms . Tricuspid and Mitral valve are valves in heart that prevent back flow of blood into the heart once the heart pumps blood . In you these valves have become slightly lax and mild degree of back flow of blood is happening. But since the degree of back flow is mild there is nothing to be worried about.

Regarding calcification of Aortic Valve , it means there is excess calcium deposition over the Aortic valve . It is very common at your age and nothing needs to be done .

So what your doctor has said is right , there is no significant findings in your Echo report.

Hope this information is useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask.
