Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What is prolonged p-r interval observation on EKG? I ve stopped taking Lyrica because of chest pains. After 3 days of chest pains and on the advice of my pain doctor I have discontinued Lyrica. The chest pain is much better this evening but I m wondering if Lyrica might have damaged my heart and is it ok to go to my aerobic class tomorrow? I m 62, 5 6 and weigh 150 lbs.
The said ECG changes are unlikely related to Lyrica (pregabalin). This drug has no significant effect on heart. Prolonged PR interval means there is some delay in conduction of electrical signal from upper to lower part of heart(atrium to ventricle). This may indicates a milder form of heart block.
Clinical significance of this depends on many other factors like the degree of prolongation, your heart rate and its rhythm and any symptoms like dizziness or exercise intolerance. So it is better to discuss with your doctor before going for aerobics.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
