What Does This LFT Report Indicate?

Hello Sir, My wife is diagnosed with jaundice. She was suffering from fever, vomiting since 10th July for which doctor initially prescribed medicines/antibiotics. Later on 18th July she was diagnosed with Jaundice with the following liver Function Test results:- Total bilirubin 3.77 mg/dl Direct bilirubin 2.38 mg/dl indirect bilirubin 1.39 mg/dl SGOT 477 mg/dl SGPT 1.64 mg/dl Protein 6.4 mg/dl Albumin 3.8g/dl Alkaline Phosphates 185 g/dl The doctor has recommended Rehaptin tablet twice daily for 30 days. She has take 4 bottles of saline. Please recommend necessary diet and how much time will it take to recover? After how many days she will be able to include non-veg diet? Is it recommended for her to join duties from 1st August.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

You are having jaundice. The cause could be alcohol induced liver disease or viral hepatitis. Viral marker investigation is suggested in your case. You have to take low fat diet. Take apple juice and sugar cane juice more. You have to take rest and avoid strenous activities. Don't take non veg diet for atleast one to two month. The mentioned medication can be taken in liver damage to reduce elevated liver enzymes.
