What Does This MRI Report Indicate?

Hi. I m a 50 year old male and I ve recently had an MRI scan showing several Brain Lesions, the largest of which is 1cm in size. I m fairly certain that this was caused by Lyme Disease. Other than a worsening memory, I have no other symptoms. I was diagnosed with Lyme about 10 years ago after going to several doctors, none of whom would even test me for Lyme- when I finally got tested, I had very high levels of antibodies. I did six months of antibiotics and thought I was finally cured. When I stopped the antibiotics, I eventually ended up getting Bell s Palsy and had to go back on the antibiotics for another 3 months. Is there any treatment that might reduce/shrink the damage?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

People treated with appropriate antibiotics in the early stages of Lyme disease usually recover rapidly and completely. Antibiotics commonly used for oral treatment include doxycycline, amoxicillin, or cefuroxime axetil.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
