What Does This MRI Report Indicate?

Recently had ct scan an mri of sinuses. MRI states the following..Small collection of enhancing tissue in right posterior medial ethimiod air cells. Together with bone dehiscence in this region found on previous sinus ct scan the finding is concerning for squamous cell or adenocarcinoma. Recommend direct visualization and or biopsy. Mild sinus disease found in other sinuses also. Overall this sounds bad. I have previous history of Colon cancer that has been in remission for over 3 years. Is the above cancer or could it be polyps or something else. Please help. Thanks

Radiation Oncologist 's  Response
Hello,

Based on this MRI report, yes there is something that requires further evaluation.

However to tell exactly, if there is any way that you can share the images of the MRI, to know the exact nature of the enhancing tissue.

Secondly, I agree with the recommendation, the best way to tell with certainty is by direct visualization and biopsy ie taking a small sample and looking under a microscope.

Since you have had a history of colon cancer, there is a risk of second cancer.

However, in order to be certain about that too, I would like to know details such as, type of colon cancer, treatment received, whether treated adequately or not, whether this tissue in the sinus is a recurrence or new cancer altogether.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Jatin Bhatia, Radiation Oncologist
