I recently had an MRI of my spine done and there are a few questions i have about the results:At L4-5, there is moderate loss of height and minimal loss of T2 signal in the disc, which has a small diffuse bulge; there is moderate to severe bilateral facet arthropathy explaining the subluxation; together these cause very minimal spinal stenosis without any traversing root compromise. There is only minimal bilateral L4 nerve root canal narrowing. At L5-S1 there is moderate loss of height and loss of T2 signal in the disc, with a small midline subligamentous disc extrusion without any compressive effect; there is minimal to moderate left L5 nerve root canal narrowing. The conus medullaris looks normal in contour, signal and position, ending behind L1-2. Extraspinal soft tissues look unremarkable.
Its quite a normal lumbar spine MRI exam in an adult person. The moderate to severe facet arthropathy can be associated with back pain, and in a young person can be part of a rheumatologic desease. But otherwise is nothing to worry about, just some AINS and physiotherapy if you have back pain.
