Hello. My MRI shows L4-L5 disc herniation with 2mm inferior extrusion with discrete mass effect on the ventral thecal sac and L5 traversing nerve roots. Mild 8.5mm central canal stenosis. Intraforaminal disc extension noted with mild bilateral foraminal stenosis. At the S4 level proper, there is evidence for an incompletely visualized region of high signal intensity within the sacral vertebral body to the left of midline, suggesting a Tarlov Cyst has chorinacally eroded into the segment. Full evaluation of the sacrum and coccyx was not undertaken, as the field of views is limited. Consider further evaluation, if sacral pain is present. RECOMMENDATION: If direct lower sacral pain is present clinically, may consider a case MRI of sacrum/coccyx for full evaluation of this body process. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From this result, my Pain Management doctor s PA only explained that I have a disc protrusion and arthritis but it seems to me that there are more going on. Can you please explain to me everything that is written on this result? Thank you very much.
First of all we need to know why you are doing this MRI. What kind of problems you have. Back pain? In general Tarlov cyst are incidental findings but usually they don't erode the bone. So if sacral pain is present perhaps you have to perform another MRI this tim of your pelvis to check this.
