General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

- Your MRI is basically speaking of two conditions in your lower spine:
1) Lumbar stenosis: This is a narrowing of your spinal canal. This causes pinching of nerves. You may have noticed some pain transmitted down your legs when you bend backwards or side to side.
2) Degenerative disease: Just like arthritis occurs at the knee and hip, degeneration can also occur in your spinal column. This could be compounding your back pain.
- The definitive treatment for spinal stenosis is a surgery
- However, as a temporizing measure you could try some mild physiotherapy and anti-inflammatory drugs.
- I would suggest you reach out to an ortho doctor you trust to provide you with the options going forward.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
