What Does This MRI Report Mean?

My MRI results indicated right paracentral disk protrusion with degenerative facet and uncovertebral joint changes. Mild effacement of the right central thecal sac and flattening of the right aspect of the cervical spinal cord. No abnormal spinal signal. There is moderate to severe right foraminal stenosis with likely impingement of the existing nerve root . Also, clinical correlation is recommended . 5 other disks are also listed as mild facet joint degenerative facet and joint changes . What does all of this mean? Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Can you mention your symptoms and why a scanning was ordered? The report says that there is degenerative changes of inter-vertebral discs (disc between two vertebral bones) of neck area, leading to narrowing of spinal canal and compression of nerves passing through. This might cause pain/tingling/weakness of arms. Treatment depends on severity of symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
