What Does This MRI Report Mean?

Hi....I had an MRI of my knee and nobody is telling me what a part of the result means. I received a 2nd opinion which states its normal and bruised no treatment is necessary....I never was given any treatment anyway. It states at the Patellofemoral compartment there is irregularity and thinning of the patellar articular cartilage. There is a fissure along the articular cartilage of the lateral trochlea. Also it says, there is mile prepatellar subcutaneous edema. There is a physiologic joint effusion. There are two T2 hyperintense cystic structures along the medial tibial plateau, largest measuring 9mm, likely relating to interosseous ganglions. Otherwise, bone marrow signal is normal. Impression: No evidence of rt knee fracture or internal derangement. Mild patellofemoral osteoarthrosis. I fell on the sidewalk almost 2 months ago and have had non stop pain. Sitting, driving and sleeping are when it is the most painful. When I google these things it doesn t mention anything for a bruise. I had very minimal bruising and still have 1 the size of about a nickel and it has stayed there the entire time. Can some one help me please. I hate the I don t know what it means or the I don t knows of why your in pain

Hello,

The constant pain with prepatellar subcutaneous edema indicates post traumatic changes around the joint space and capsule. Following measures will help you better way:
- Local application of heating pad
- Assisted physiotherapy
- Avoidance of prolong standing and weight bearing over unilateral lower limb
- Control of blood sugar
- Control body weight
- Analgesic and anti-inflammatory molecules
- Refractory cases do require diagnostic arthroscopy and intervention accordingly

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
