What Does This MRI Report Of Back Mean?

On my MRI diagnosis the Doctor states, under Findings , that L5-S1 Disc bulge with a central protrusion with slight superior central extrusion. There is also osteophytic endplane spurring. Moderate foraminal narrowing is present related to the discogenic changes, with compression of the exiting right L5 nerve root within the foramen. And under Impression he states Unchanged protrusion/extrusion at L5-S1, with slight progression of the disc bulge component and osteophytic endplate spurring. There is resultant worsened moderate bilateral foraminal narrowing, with compression of the exiting right L5 nerve root. I just want to know if this is something I need to worry about since I have already been diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis. Which holds more weight to it, the Findings or the Impression?

Hello
This MRI shows that the discs in between the vertebrae is bulged which may be due to trauma if straining or increased weight and osteophytes means that bone is eroding due to disease called osteoarthritis. Both are different diseases and treatment is different. For osteoarthritis kindly use anti inflammatory drugs with reduction in weight and rest your spine and bulge which is along with stenosis may need surgery if it is causing pain radiated to leg , numbness and weakness. Surgery is the last resort for this. This surgery will be probably laminectomy to reduce pressure on the spinal roots and has got very good results. Hope that answer the question. Have a nice day
