What Does This MRI Report Signify?

I had an MRI this week due to three weeks of moderate to severe pain in my neck, shoulder, shoulder blade, upper arm muscles, and nerve pain extending into my pointer, ring, and pinky fingers. My hand grip is weak. What might my future hold with the following MRI results? C2-3 Developmentally small spinal canal C3-4 Moderate canal stenosis and cord deformity. Moderate left central extrusion superimposed on mild disc bulging and congenitally short pedicles. Moderate bilateral foraminal stenosis. C4-5 Signs of interbody arthrodesis. Persistent mild canal stenosis due to congenitally short pedicles and ossified scar asymmetrically indenting the thecal sac on the right. Cord is slightly rotated. C5-6 Signs of interbody arthrodesis. C6-7 Moderate canal stenosis and mild cord defomity. Small left central extrusion superimposed on posterior endplate spurs, ligamentum flavum buckling and congeniatally short pedicles. C7-T1 Tinal central protusions without cord deformity. Mild to moderate facet arthrosis Mild right foraminal stenosis. T1-2 Small central protrusion contacts the cord. Mild canal stenosis.

Hello,

Sorry to hear about the MRI reports. Well there might be a lot of symptoms of pains for you. Like you mentioned about shoulder blade, upper limb as a while, fingers, trapezius, neck pain etc.

Due to the spinal canal stenosis there is compression over the nerve roots which is leading all the pain and discomfort.

Let me make it this way. Our spinal cord comes out of brain. then passes from the spinal canal. This spinal canal is situated between the body of vertebrae and spine of vertebrae. The nerve passes from the sides of this which may get compress due to spinal canal stenosis. Also there is a presence of Disc in between the two vertebra bodies, which also gets pathological changes and compress the spinal cord in direct or the nerve roots.

Now the nerve coming from spinal cord has functions to carry out. one is motor - meaning movement of muscles and other is sensory - to feel the sensation.

Any disruption in the nerve may lead to abnormal reactions like pain, muscle weakness, spasm etc.

I would suggest you to continue any Medicine prescribed by the orthopedist and land into the physcial therapy sessions like TENS , Ultrasound and exercises on later stages.

This looks big on an MRI film but may be handled well if a competitive physical therapist and orthopedist shows a keen interest in your case.

In my experience of 12 years people have got helped with physical therapy and orthopedist.

Please take up the call to meet up two competitive people for stronger outcome.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
