Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had an MRI for a lower back problem which is constant, not paining every day but have to really be careful when I move or bend and have to stay centered if I lift something. The MRI came back and she said that I have a disk contusion and it will be explained further next week by a specialist, either operate or deal with it. I am 69 years old, do a lot of physical work in the garden, run a b&b and work my tail off, so what do you suggest, otherwise I am in great shape.
You could be having a disc compressing your nerve roots causing the back pain and muscle spasm. You should avoid bending forwards. Wear Lumbar belt. Avoid lifting heavy weights. Stay fit with regular exercise. You can take Oral pain killer with muscle relaxant like Diclofenac with Thiocolchicoside combination twice a day after a meal and apply gel of the same combination over the painful area. If the pain does not decrease, you may require further intervention by your Doctor like injections or surgery.
