What Does This MRI Test Result For Skin Redness Indicate ?
over one year ago I developed a rash on the back of my neck. over several months the rash progressed around my neck and a few inches down my back, ultimatley to my forehead and scalp around my forehead and my ears. I saw a dermatologist, allergist, and internal medicie physician. i had blood test for lupus that were negative. Through allergy testing I had a sensitivity to PPD. I now only use PPD free hair color. The rash has greatly improved over time and is almost gone. Since the rash occurred, I have had an marked increase in redness in my knees and hands, stiffness and joint pain. I particularly have had problems with my neck being still and losing feeling in my right arm. I attributed that to a disc issue because I had a cervical disc herniation and repair about 12 years ago. last week I had an MRI that showed some bulging but the bigger issue seemed to be evidence of arthritis and a bone spur compressing the nerve. Ever since I had the rash I have been concerned about some sort of autoimmune issue even though the first round of blood test were negative. other symptons include frequent skin redness on my face and backs of my arms. my finger joints appear red most of the time as well as my knees. my fingers are very stiff in the morning and I have frequent soreness in my hips. my knees do not hurt. I am 53 but excersise and do strength training on a regualr basis. I consider myself very fit. I have always had soreness related to tough workouts but it is definitely different for the past several months. I am just wondering if this would be consistent a form of arthritis other than rheumatoid. also what specific test might provide any more insight.
Few tests can help have you done plain X-ray of hand or joint involved if not these can help and to make correct diagnosis bone scan are available and last resort to diagnose is arthrocentesis (joint fluids examination) and CRP, ESR, CK tests too. Your history make diagnosis of osteoarthritis. Simple things like heat and cold therapy, weight loss, yoga or exercise, can help and medicine painkillers if this is most severe then under orthopedic guidance injections are available for rapid relief.
These days tai chi and acupuncture is used in these kind of problems if less severe as in your case. Plus, all other problems you mentioned need neurologist attention too.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
