What Does This MRI Test Result For Vertebral Artery Indicate?
Ive been staying with an elderly friend and have noticed bizarre personality changes. An MRA at the VA stated : diffuse cerebellar and cerebral cortical volume loss...also ill defined low attenuation areain each cerebellum..right thalamus and right periventricular region are consistent with lacunar infarcts. Would you translate to average IQ and advise of treatments so I can explain properly. Thank you.

What Does This MRI Test Result For Vertebral Artery Indicate?
Hello, * The MRI report is indicative of brain parenchyma damage from the previous vascular strokes via breach in the blood supply through atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, recurrent thrombosis, smoking or others * The therapy would be consisting of - control of blood pressure - anti platelet agents as aspirin, clopidrogel or others to prevent recurrent thrombus formation - avoidance of smoking if doing regular aerobics, walking - deep breathing exercises - counselling sessions in case of dementia problems However, if his symptomatic details are available for further reference , I can guide more precisely in this direction. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
