Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does This PET Scan Result For Swelling In Left Chest Area Indicate?
I have been having issues on my left side, specifically my shoulder and arm area. I also started having swelling in my left chest area. I had scans that were normal. This was within a year. A few weeks ago I had terrible pain in the area of swelling. Was taken to ER, they did a cat scan that showed a 2.4x1.4 Pleural based density. They gave me ,Levoquin and sent me to pulmonolgist for further testing. I had Pet scan showing a mild metabolic activity again with a density in left apex fusing to pleura.I am uncomfortable to da the least. Very out of breath and lots of pressure in swollen area. After attempting for over a week to get my pulmonologist on phone for results of the pet scan, his nurse called and said that they will wait! Even if its showing possible inflammatory process or infection? I can see if this was found incidentally, but the fact that I feel sick concerns me! What are your thoughts?
I am sorry for your situation However if you were my patient I would recommend a long biopsy of that area to see exactly what kind of problem or is.Please discuss with your doctor

Dr Jolanda
