General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The renal parenchymal disease is most commonly associated with hypertension and in diabetic patients is associated with diabetic nephropathy.

As your grand mother is daibetic. I would suggest you get her blood sugar levels and blood pressure checked.

Along with sugar control, hypertension needs to be controlled if she is hypertensive and not on medicines.

I suggest you visit a nephrologist so that if the blood pressure needs to be controlled by medicines, he will suggest appropriate medicines for that.

Apart from this, he might suggest some blood tests for kidney function. After all careful physical examination and test results, he will advise you the best treatment option for it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
