Hi,I am Raju.A.T (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
In Jun, got biopsy report with atypical complex hyperplasia - precancerous cells. In report it recommand hysterectomy. I went to see an oncologist, did CT and MRI, both test results are fine, no indicating cancer or pre-cancerous cells. My doc think i should do the hysterectomy. To me the decision is only based on the biopsy, normally how reliable is the biopsy results? should i wait or go thru the surgery?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. CT scan and MRI scan are imaging techniques. It will help to pick up lesions in case there is growth or spread of cancer. Biopsy is taking a piece of tissue and processing it for histopathology examination. They see the cells under the microscope. This will help to diagnose cancer at a very early stage. Since the report what you have got mentions as precancerous condition, you need to take it as a warning sign. It would be better you get operated now itself as the doctor has advised. In case it turns into cancer and spreads, you will have other problems to face. Kindly follow what the doctor has advised and get operated at the earliest. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
