What Does This Blood Report For Infection Indicate?
Hello, I have recently had what I thought to be a urine infection and I ve had it for about 2 weeks. I went to the doctors and they gave me a blood test. She said that nothing was wrong and gave me the list of the results. The clinic was very busy and she looked very quickly at the results. Upon reading the results myself I have discovered that I have a neutrophils count of 23,70% and a lymphocytes count of 65,40%. I know that those results are out of the normal range . Would you recommend that I get a second opinion? I m a 26 year old male. Thank you.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The blood reports shows an elevated lymphocytes and comparative low neutrophils. However, total leukocyte count is required to interpret these results. Thus, post the total leukocyte count result. In addition, urinary tract infection is often accompanied by increased total leukocyte count and high neutrophil count. Thus, these result rule out an active urinary tract infection however, complete report is required for interpretation.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
