What Does This Blood Report Indicate?

Hi, I am 23 years old. My blood report is as follows TOTAL LEUCOCYTES COUNT 4.59 NEUTROPHILS 46.1 LYMPHOCYTE PERCENTAGE 46.8 MONOCYTES 3.3 EOSINOPHILS 3.3 BASOPHILS 0.2 IMMATURE GRANULOCYTE PERCENTAGE(IG%) 0.3 NEUTROPHILS - ABSOLUTE COUNT 2.12 LYMPHOCYTES - ABSOLUTE COUNT 2.15 MONOCYTES - ABSOLUTE COUNT 0.15 BASOPHILS - ABSOLUTE COUNT 0.01 EOSINOPHILS - ABSOLUTE COUNT 0.15 IMMATURE GRANULOCYTES(IG) 0.01 TOTAL RBC 3.86 NUCLEATED RED BLOOD CELLS Nil NUCLEATED RED BLOOD CELLS % Nil HEMOGLOBIN 11.7 HEMATOCRIT(PCV) 41 MEAN CORPUSCULAR VOLUME(MCV) 106.2 MEAN CORPUSCULAR HEMOGLOBIN(MCH) 30.3 MEAN CORP.HEMO.CONC(MCHC) 28.5 RED CELL DISTRIBUTION WIDTH - SD(RDW-SD) 57.8 RED CELL DISTRIBUTION WIDTH (RDW-CV) 14.8 PLATELET DISTRIBUTION WIDTH(PDW) 14.3 MEAN PLATELET VOLUME(MPV) 11.6 PLATELET COUNT 205 PLATELET TO LARGE CELL RATIO(PLCR) 38.2 PLATELETCRIT(PCT) 0.24 Recently I, underwent an endoscopy procedure. An incidental gastric polyp was spotted in the stomach samples of which have been taken for biopsy. I ve been having chronic symptoms of indigestion, nausea, vomiting, fatigue etc. What can be inferred from this report?

Thanks for your question.

After going through your question, I can understand your concern.

The Haemogram report shows mild anemia (low Haemoglobin) with MCV of 106.2 ie. Macrocytic (big size red blood cells). Other parameters are acceptable.

It is usually seen in Vitamin B12 & Folic acid deficiency.

Correlating these findings with your chronic stomach symptoms and gastric polyp, it may be due to malabsorption.

You should also check -
- Calcium metabolism.
- Total protein and albumin.
- Vitamin D level.
- Iron profile.
To know other nutrients status in body.

Other possibilities for Vitamin B12 deficiency are pure vegetarian diet.

Depending upon biopsy report, above test results and your clinical examination further evaluation if needed can be planned.
