Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I was recently dealing some thyroid related symptoms and since my mother has hashimoto disease I did to start with a blood test. It showed that I have a strange combination. I have high TSH (almost 7) and low eosinophils (0.4) and my T3 T4 are normal! (Also my hematocrit was slightly low) What I could have?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. From the reports you have posted, it says that your eosinophils are normal. High TSH with normal T3 and T4 in thyroid profile is possible in conditions like: 1. Subclinical hypothyroidism. 2. Malabsorption of thyroxine. 3. TSH resistance. 4. Recovery phase of non-thyroidal illness. 5. Assay interference. Hence, it would be better to get yourself evaluated again after a period of 3 months. It would be better if you can go for free T3 (FT3), free T4 (FT4) and TSH measurements along with auto-antibodies detection. That would give a better picture about your thyroid illness. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
