Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello there. I have just got my blood results and I am a bit worried as I live abroad and it is more difficult for me to take care for myself properly. I had a severe pneumonia two and half months ago and I was on Avelox antibiotics..for five days in vein and five days pills. Two days after taking this medication, my liver test was done. It was ALT 57 U/l and AST 34 U/l. The doctor said it is probably due to the medication (I have never had higher liver rates before as far as I remember). Two months after finishing the antibiotics my ALT is 64. (Cannot find AST in this result}, but Billirubin is 9.9 mmol/l, Alkaline Phosphatase 46 U/l, Gamma Glutamyl Transferase 20 U/l. My Erothrycyte Sedimentation is quite low 2 mm 1st. Hr. CRP is ok 0.9 mg/L. I am really worried that something is wrong with liver as even my poop is a bit yellowish:(. I did not do any liver diet in the last two months and I drink alcohol occasionally - at the weekends when going out with my friends. I have just turned 30 years old. Thank you for your help!
Yes. Most likely, you are experiencing jaundice as bilirubin is very high but you are not complaining for any abdominal pain so is recommended for you to consult a physician regarding same, as it is a meter of concern.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
