IVE HAD AUTOIMMUNE HEP C VIRUS SINCE 1978. NEEDED BLOOD AFTER ACCIDENT. 15+ YRS AGO I HAD 1ST STAGE OF SEROSIS. 4 MTHS AGO AFTER TEST, MY LIVER HAS NO DAMAGE NOW AT ALL... ALTHO MY VIRAL LOAD IS AT 2000. I DO KNOW CHANGES ARE BEING MADE TO MESSURE TEST AT OTHER SCALE. USEING THE OLD METHOD; HOW DANGEROUS IS THIS AMOUNT??
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
A vital load of two thousands is not very high, rather pretty low, however this indicates that the virus is yet not eradicated. This may not be any danger immediately but it do need treatment until the virus is cleared a stings can get worse at end of a long run. (Only if this is hepatic C virus as you have mentioned, the story may be different for hepatitis B virus.)
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
