What Does This Blood Test Report Indicate?

Routine blood test revealed alp level 141 and calcium level 10.1. Doctor not too concerned but wants me to retake in a month. I m afraid it may be something like bone cancer. He also said the test showed liver enzymes not a problem so it s a bone issue. Not sure what to do. Are these levels consistent with cancer?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Enzyme Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is used as a screening test for detecting bone cancer. It is not a diagnostic indicator.
In your case, ALP levels has increased but calcium level is normal.
Kindly repeat the test as advised. In case ALP shows increasing trend, depending on your clinical evaluation, you may be asked to undergo other tests to confirm bone cancer.
However, ALP may also be increased in liver disorders.
So don't be worried. Kindly follow-up as advised by your doctor.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
